Launched in 2019, First for Good was created with a simple goal: to spread positivity through everyday acts of kindness. At the heart of the initiative is the belief that even small gestures can create a lasting impact. Through First for Good, our Community Crew visits neighborhoods across the state to surprise individuals, families, educators, first responders, and local organizations with thoughtful acts of generosity that brighten their day and remind them they are supported.
Supporting Students
Education has long been a priority for Michigan First. We proudly support students across the state through partnerships with institutions such as Wayne State University and Lawrence Technological University. Through the Michigan First Foundation, we have expanded that commitment by investing directly in higher education. Each year, the Foundation awards up to $85,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students. Since its inception, more than $1.8 million in scholarships has helped students pursue their educational goals, reduce financial barriers, and build brighter futures. These efforts help ease financial pressures while reinforcing our commitment to educational achievement and the future success of Michigan’s students.
Supporting Local Communities
Strong communities depend on thriving local businesses, and we are proud to support the entrepreneurs who help Michigan grow. Through First for Good, our foundation, and our business banking team, we have celebrated and assisted locally owned businesses by visiting their locations, promoting their services, and surprising them with meaningful support. Whether it is a neighborhood restaurant, a family-owned retailer, or a local service provider, these businesses strengthen the communities we call home through innovation, resilience, and hard work. These efforts are driven by a simple belief that strong communities are built through lasting relationships.
