Community has always been at the heart of the Credit Union movement and is a huge part of who we are at Michigan First. Every year we strive to give back to an even greater extent than the year before.
Michigan First Foundation
The Michigan First Foundation was established to fund the Michigan First Scholarship Program and support charitable and community organizations. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) fully owned by Michigan First Credit Union, the Foundation furthers the credit union’s deep commitment to education and charitable giving in the communities Michigan First serves.
- Charitable Giving: Each year, the Foundation provides financial support to more than 85 charitable organizations throughout metro Detroit and Grand Rapids that have social, community, cultural or educational impact.
- Scholarships: The Foundation awards scholarships to dozens of graduating high school seniors and college students each year. In all, the Foundation awards up to $85,000 in financial aid annually. Learn More.
- Donations: The Foundation donates more than $100,000 in funding or in-kind donations to local organizations across Michigan. Some of these organizations include Movers for Moms, Goodfellows, Toys for Tots, Detroit Boxing Gym, and more.
- Shred Days: For a donation of only $5 or 4 canned goods, members of the community can stop by our branches on shred days to safely and securely dispose of documents that may have confidential information on them.
- Golf Outing: The Raymond Dudus Memorial Golf Classic is held annually to raise scholarship funds. Sponsorships are available. Contact [email protected] for more information or if you're interested in becoming a sponsor. View sponsorship opportunities
