A Full Circle Journey
Some of my earliest memories are of visiting Detroit Teachers Credit Union with my mom. She was a single mother of three who worked at Wayne State University, and I still remember the kindness of the staff and the welcoming atmosphere. As I grew older, Michigan First became my financial home. From my first car loan and senior trip, to business banking and retirement planning, the credit union has been there for every stage of my life. One of the most meaningful moments came when my mother needed additional care near the end of her life. Michigan First helped our family bridge the financial gap during a difficult time, and that support meant so much. Today, I continue to trust Michigan First with my financial needs. Through every milestone, I’ve experienced the same caring service that first welcomed my mother decades ago.— Jayne F.
Breaking the Cycle
When I was in high school, I began thinking seriously about building a strong financial future and breaking generational cycles through financial responsibility and good credit. My aunt, a Michigan First member, encouraged me to open my first account. Since then, Michigan First has helped me establish credit, manage my finances, and build confidence in my future. No matter which branch I visit, I’m always treated with kindness and respect. Today, I have a three-year-old son, and I plan to open his first account with Michigan First. Just as my aunt guided me, I hope to pass along those same financial lessons to the next generation.— Taja T.
A Lifetime Partnership
My connection to Michigan First began with my mother, who was a member of Detroit Teachers Credit Union through her work with Detroit Public Schools. Inspired by her confidence in the credit union, I joined after starting my own career with the district in 1970. More than 50 years later, I remain a proud member. Michigan First supported me as I earned my bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees and helped me navigate important financial decisions for my home and family. What has kept me loyal is the consistent service, sound guidance, and commitment to helping members succeed.
