Halloween is a great social event where everyone can be something else for a night – a pumpkin, dog, princess, monster – you choose!
While dressing up for Halloween is fun, everyone knows that the day after is the best. Why? Discount candy!
When trick-or-treating is over, stores are in a rush to get rid of their Halloween supply to make room for Christmas candy, decorations and toys – so naturally, people are able to find great deals. You can find anything from 5 lb bags to individual pieces, or even mixed assortments.
For those that don’t eat all of the candy within the first week of buying it, here’s some tips to make it last.
- Chocolate lasts for one or two years. Wrapped candies last longer than opened ones, but a general rule to remember is that dark lasts up to two years, while milk and white last up to one year. If you aren’t sure – just take a bite and find out! In most cases, you won’t be disappointed.
- Fruity candy, like Sour Patch Kids, Skittles and Starburst can essentially last forever – if stored properly. As long as the candy stays wrapped and dry, it should be edible for the next few Halloweens to come.
Whether you’re out with friends, watching a scary movie on your couch, or trick-or-treating, one thing is certain: everyone is stuffing their face with sweet treats.
