Top-notch defense against scams and identity theft.
Rely on our systems and team to secure your accounts.
Protecting you and your money is our highest priority
We invest a significant amount of resources to ensure your personal information stays confidential and secure.
Multiple authentication checks
When you sign in for the first time or with a device we don’t recognize, we’ll ask you for your username, password and a temporary identification code, which we’ll send you by email or text message. Once you provide the identification code, you'll be securely signed into your accounts. This multi-step process helps us protect your accounts and allows us to recognize your device the next time you sign in.
We monitor your account 24/7 to help detect fraud as early as possible. We might call you if we notice a change in your online or spending activity, but we’ll never ask you for personal information over the phone.
Secure messages you send us (or we send you) through online banking are protected. However, messages you send to us outside online banking, like social media and email, might not be secure. If you need to send us Social Security numbers, account numbers or other confidential information, only send it in a secure message in online banking or via our secured lending portal using DocuSign. You can also call us, visit one of our branches or send it by U.S. mail.
We use 128-bit encryption technology to protect your username, password and other personal account information when you’re using MichiganFirst.com or the Michigan First Mobile App. You’ll know your information is encrypted when the MichiganFirst.com page you’re on starts with “https://” and you see a lock symbol in your web browser.
It should look something like this, with slight differences depending on which web browser you are using. Below is an example from Google Chrome.
Trained team members
Michigan First has a strict code of conduct when it comes to supporting the integrity and ethical standards we expect from our team members. Each team member is required to complete monthly training on how to protect and secure your personal information. We also have guidelines to limit access to confidential information and restrictions on how we use your information for certain processes and transactions.
Michigan First is a full-service credit union with branches that are easily accessible around Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and mid-Michigan.
