Community Involvement
Michigan First has a rich history of community involvement in metro Detroit. From our founding as Detroit Teachers Credit Union, we have maintained close ties to the educational community in southeast Michigan. Each year, we award scholarships to graduating students in our local communities and operate student-run branches in elementary, middle, and high schools. We also support local charitable organizations with financial contributions and sponsorships, plus by taking an active role in numerous local events and committees.
Each year, we host educational seminars in our Community Room, located within our Evergreen headquarters. Organizations throughout the area are also invited to use our state-of-the-art community room free of charge. Email our Community Room Coordinator for reservation details.
In celebration of the holiday season, our headquarters building is decked out in lights each year and area children are invited to a special celebration with Santa.
Michigan First team members also actively participate in Toastmasters, and the credit union proudly hosts a chapter with weekly meetings at the Evergreen office.
